SB2C Helldiver Restored and on Display

SB2C Helldiver ser#19866 – one of a dozen left in existence, has been restored for display at the National Naval Aviation Museum at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. It crashed on May 28. 1945 in a reservoir near San Diego, California after engine failure during a training exercise. Both pilot E.D. Frazer and his passenger escaped uninjured, but the Helldiver sank in 90 ft. of water. The aircraft was discovered in February 2010 and recovered on 20 August 2010 for restoration. It is now one of many amazing aircraft on display in this truly amazing museum.
