SOB History

SOB History – Its not over!

The SOB’s were formed in 1948 by a group of ex-Navy pilots who flew in WWII. The name of the club comes from the airplane most of the founders flew, the SB2C “Helldiver”. The plane was unloved by its pilots and earned a nickname based on its designation SB2C – “Son of a Bitch 2nd Class”; hence their squadrons unofficial nickname the “SOB’s”.

SOB history

Looking for the camaraderie and sense of purpose lost when they left the military, they formed the SOB Motorcycle Club. In its early years the club only accepted ex-navy pilots but eventually opened up to all ex-military…later that restriction too was dropped. The founders decided early on that the club would always be a single chapter, and that they would remain independent from any other club.

The SOB’s are now a club that has to rebuild due to losses from the recent conflict. We cannot divulge any current information on the club to protect those who are left until we are sure that the current storm has blown over. For more information you have to see the film Rolling Thunder, Life inside an Outlaw Motorcycle Club.
